TERRITORIAL YOUTH BAND

Requirements:

  • For qualified Salvationist instrumentalists 13-25 years of age.
  • Membership is contingent on:
    • Ongoing discipleship to Jesus Christ.
    • Active service and upstanding soldiership in corps. 
    • Faithful participation in corresponding corps music sections where available.
  • All audition materials must be received by February 20, 2023 (for new members only). 
    • Past members are not required to submit an audition. ​
  • TYB members must attend BOTH of the following weekends:
    • May 5-7, 2023 with Chicago Staff Band - THQ - Hoffman Estates
    • June 9-11, 2023 - Milwaukee, WI - Commissioning Weekend

 

Territorial Youth Band Application Procedure: 

  • Former CMI students who have not successfully auditioned into Wonderland or Citadel Bands are required to submit an audition video with their online application.
     
  • Applicants who have not attended CMI are required to submit audition videos with their online application.
     
  • Applicants will submit a video audition to the Territorial Music and Creative Arts Ministries Department to USCMusic@usc.salvationarmy.org (via emailed link to private YouTube/Vimeo or mp4 video file).

Brass Auditions - All brass musicians must play through the attached audition materials in one take. Start from excerpt number one and continue as far as you can without stopping the camera. The standard level for TYB will be Citadel Band (CMI) level or higher.

Percussion Auditions - All percussionists must submit an audition on both snare drum AND mallets. Each submission should be in one take. For snare drum you will start at the beginning and play as far as you can without stopping the camera. For mallets, you will do the same by playing through from the beginning to as far as you can go.
