Designed to promote the development of future pianists through in-person and online lessons, Operation Piano Academy students will have the possibility of individual lessons from their own home or Corps. This program is available for adults and youths of 8 years and up.

Applicants can choose the lesson style that works best for them. If you have the ability to take lessons in-person and already have an instructor, fill out the application below and select "in-person." If you would like to take lessons online with one of our highly qualified faculty instructors choose, "online."

Lessons will be based on the M.A.P. curriculum and geared toward Sunday morning preparation. Lessons will be offered in increments of 30-, 45-, or 60-minute sessions, to be determined by experience level.

Supplemental funding will be provided by divisional and/or territorial resources to all students. To receive more information and to apply, please fill out the form below.

Guidelines

  • The applicant must be at least 8 years old and attend a Salvation Army corps. Endorsements are required from the Corps Officers and Divisional Music Director.

  • The applicant must be actively involved in the corps and be willing to use this instruction to benefit corps worship. The expectation is the student is to perform twice each year. (For instance, an offertory, preliminary music, Sunday School opening, accompanying worship, or at a recital.)

  • Renewal applications for continuing lessons must be accompanied by a M.A.P. piano evaluation or equivalent from the instructor for the previous year.

  • The applicant must have access to an adequate piano for regular practice. This piano could be the corps piano, provided the student has daily access to this instrument.

  • Parental permission is required for students under the age of 18.
